Skin Prescription - Skin Type #1
OILY / CLOGGED PORES / SEVERE ALL-OVER BREAKOUTS
We have recommended an extensive routine for those who want to "get serious" about their skin, but we realize there are others who want a simple approach. Check out our Basics and The Collection Kits below.
Oily, problem skin management requires a careful combination of AHA and BHA pore-cleaning exfoliants, along with antiseptic botanicals like natural Camphor and Eucalyptus. This routine helps to disinfect, control oil, exfoliate, and calm troubling breakout conditions, without over-drying the skin. Your skin will be healthy and balanced, minimizing troublesome breakouts.
*With any new skin care routine, it is advised to introduce one new product a day.
NOTE:
You will notice that we recommend different cleansers for the morning and the evening. We suggest a gel cleanser in the morning to give the skin a deep pore cleansing, while a cleansing lotion in the evening are more effective for dissolving and melting makeup out of the pores. If you'd like to start with just one, we suggest the morning gel cleanser to be used both morning and evening.
Symptoms
- extremely oily skin
- large pores on entire face
- constant, severe acne (several new blemishes a day) all over the face, including blackheads and cysts
- post-blemish red/dark scars that linger
- will break out from heavy oils or pore-clogging ingredients
- wants clearer and smoother skin
Caution: You must have extremely oily skin and acne all over the face to benefit from this routine.

Morning Routine
We recommend a separate routine for morning and evening simply because your skin's needs differ from day to night. During the day, you want to focus on giving your skin protection from the sun and environmental abuse, while providing lightweight hydration under makeup.
Recommended Products
STEP ONE
Cleanse your skin with AHA/BHA CLEANSING GEL. This provides a deep pore cleansing without stripping and over-drying your skin. On damp skin, apply a dime-sized amount of gel, work through, and rinse well.
STEP TWO
Saturate a Toning Cloth with our alcohol-free BALANCING SKIN TONIC. Wipe over entire face. Leave your skin damp with the toner and proceed to Step Three. (By leaving your skin damp with the toner, you are giving your skin a drink of water, which is essential for healthy skin. All of our toners are alcohol-free, so they will not dehydrate the skin.)
STEP THREE
On damp skin, apply 1-2 pumps of SKIN CORRECTING SERUM. This provides the skin with daytime antioxidant protection to prevent free radical environmental damage. A must for anti-aging!
STEP FOUR
Rub a nickel-sized amount of DAILY PROTECTION SPF #30 onto fingertips. Apply to entire face, neck and ears, (even the back of the neck for those with short hair). Our sunblock lotion is lightweight, greaseless, and will not clog the pores or cause breakouts!
STEP FIVE
Proceed with makeup and an eye cream or eye gel, if you prefer.
Evening Routine
We recommend a separate routine for morning and evening simply because your skin's needs differ from day than from night. In the evening, your skin is at rest and in its "repair" mode, trying to heal from the environmental damage that occurred during the day. You want to focus on calming, healing, removing surface dry skin cells and absorption of performance products.
Recommended Products
STEP ONE
Apply a generous amount of AHA/BHA CLEANSING GEL to damp skin. Massage through the skin, wet fingertips, work through again, and rinse well with lukewarm water. Many of our clients enjoy using our Facial Sponges, instead of a wash cloth, for a gentle cleansing.
STEP TWO
Saturate a Toning Cloth with our alcohol-free BALANCING SKIN TONIC. Wipe over your entire face. Leave your skin damp with the toner and proceed to Step Three.
STEP THREE
For seven nights, apply 1-2 pumps of GLYCOLIC SERUM 20% to damp skin. It may cause a mild tingling sensation, which is considered normal. By treating your skin for seven nights with our Glycolic Serum, you are exfoliating the skin by dissolving the glue that holds dry, dead skin cells together to smooth the skin, unclog blocked pores, and fade post-breakout marks.
You then want to discontinue using your Glycolic Serum for a week to avoid exfoliation overload. Research indicates that when the skin is in a constant state of exfoliation, visible or invisible inflammation can accelerate the aging process. Also, Glycolic Serum performs more effectively when not being used all of the time.
So, for the next seven nights, apply 1-2 pumps of SKIN CORRECTING SERUM to damp skin. Using a serum on your opposite week works to feed your skin with nourishment and performance ingredients to reduce clogged pores and breakouts.
STEP FOUR
Apply a small amount of TEA TREE ANTI-BLEMISH LOTION to entire face.
STEP FIVE
Apply a small amount of VITAMIN C EYE SERUM to the area under the eyes.
Home Mini Facial (Once a Week)
Mini Facials are a must for keeping skin healthy and smooth. Give your skin a boost with a Mini Facial once a week. Your skin will thank you for the extra attention. The proper way to perform a Mini Facial is as follows.
Recommended Products
STEP ONE
Wash your face. Apply a small amount of MINT BUFFING BEADS to damp skin. Follow instructions on back of jar. (Use 3 times a week. Once with your 3-step mini facial, and twice on its own; or 3 times a week, if you don’t perform your mini facial.)
STEP TWO
Apply 1-2 pumps of SKIN CORRECTING SERUM. Masks are designed to push serums into the skin, which is why you will get better results with your Mini Facial by using a skin serum underneath the mask.
STEP THREE
Apply a thin coat of DETOXIFYING MASK to entire face. Let dry for 10-20 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water and apply Tea Tree Anti-Blemish Lotion and Vitamin C Eye Serum.
